Running Vista Home Premium, 32 bit


Problem: After a "blink of an eye" power failure, all of my desktop Icons now have ">>>" in the lower left corner with the exception of 3, (Computer, Recycle and Control Panel).

Also my PC's external "F" drive was not recognized after the power failure. I unplugged this drive from the outlet, waited a few seconds and then plugged it back into the outlet and it's now recognized again.

Mr. Proffitt's answer dated 01/04/08 to "Mztweeta" worked when I changed to 16 bit color. But when I changed back to 32 bit color as he mentioned the Icons reverted back to having ">>>" in the lower left corner of the Icons.

Any ideas on why this happened and how to correct this and still use 32 bit color?

I've not seen such an issue before, myself. I would recommend http://www.microsoft.com. I believe that they offer a certain amount of free tech support, beginning from the first support call you make.
