Voided Checks: Shouldn't a voided check clear itself automatically in the account reconcilliation for the date of void?

When it clears, does it impact the numbers at the top left of the reconcile, which denote the Checks and Deposits?

If a void does impact these numbers then your bank statement numbers no longer match the reconcile. Even though you are at 0.00 and balanced, these other two numbers are "off" exactly the amount of the void and it's orig check. Has anyone experienced this? Also, has anyone experienced a void NOT automatically clearing and you have to manually clear it and it's orig check?

If you Void a check, it will affect the displayed balance as of the affected Period(s). If you Void it in the original Period/Month in which it was written, it will affect the books for that month only. If you Write the check in one month and do the Void in another, then it will affect the bank rec for the month in which the check was written/voided, and that rec may no longer match your actual bank statement (because the Void took place after the fact).
