For the more recent versions of Peachtree (2005 and later), you can do the following; I don't know if the file names are the same in the older versions:
Close Peachtree on all systems and reboot them. On the system which is holding the Peachtree data, go to Task Manager and see if w3dbsmgr or w32mkde is running. If so, End Process on it.
Then, run a Search on the computer with the data, looking for *.ptl and *.lck -- delete any such files which appear in any Peachtree-related folder.
