job centric or customer centric?

Postby RandyS on Fri Mar 28, 2008 10:10 pm

I am wondering how to set this up, or if QB will even work in this fashion.

I run a training business and conduct classes. For each class (should that be considered a job?) there will be multiple students (customers). What would be the proper approach for setting up QB to handle this?

Thanks,
Randy

QB treats Jobs as subsets of Customers, rather than as global "catchalls" like PT does.

Maybe what you could do is to use a Class by a different name: Look up "Classes" in the QB help file for an explanation. Consider entering your students in as Customers, and the classes you teach as QB Classes. Make sure every transaction related to that class is coded to the proper Class (confused yet? ). Then, run reports "By Class" to separate them out and see how your expenses and income go for that particular cla....er, teaching session ^_^
