Accounts Payable Balance

Postby New Gen on Tue Apr 08, 2008 3:09 pm

I am a new QB user cleaning up several years of an accounting disaster. I have a balance in my A/P that I can't track down. Our company does not use AP. It goes back several months. Any help?

If your company has NEVER used A/P, it's just a txn posted to the wrong account. Just edit the original txn to change which account is hit or Journalize it out to se the A/P balance to zero, then make A/P Inactive.

If they HAVE used A/P in the past, drill down on the txns to find where it comes from and make the appropriate J/E's to fix it and make sure the proper accounts are affected.

You may want to consult with your CPA either way.
