I am using quickbook pro 2003, I was wondering if you can turn off the average cost in the reports. I would like to use the real numbers and not the average.

QuickBooks (in any version) only supports the Average Costing method. It's possible that an add-on that takes over inventory completely may enable you to get around this, but I am unsure. Try http://marketplace.intuit.com for this. Note that you can see the actual cost at time of purchase on the PO's/Bills themselves, as well as on Detail reports that show that data as line items.

The only alternative would be to switch to an accounting program that supports other methods. For instance, Peachtree supports Average, LIFO, and FIFO.
