Inaccurate Available Quantity

Postby pickofthelitter on Mon Apr 27, 2009 9:57 pm

I'm new to Quickbooks and Point of Sales, but I've managed to fix a few problems on my own just by reading the help section. Because of that, I'm now in charge of all the computer work. Before I took over the computers, someone tried to combine 2 completely different stores with the multi-store mode. That didn't work and they "fixed" it back to the way it was. . .supposedly. They upgraded to Quickbooks, POS PRO 7.0. Now, my on hand quantities are correct, but my available quantities are not. I have no customer orders, layaways, etc. I'm assuming that the available quantities are reflecting what the 2nd store had in stock. Is there a way to manually change the available quantities or a nice and easy "undo" button to fix what they did?

I'm also trying to work with reorder points to make using the computers easier for them, because I will be moving soon and they'll be on their own. However, because the available quantities are wrong, I set the preferences to work with the on hand quantities. When I'm looking at the suggested PO, it's still using available quantities. I've triple checked the preferences, but the only way around this that I've found is to completely delete the item and remake it. Thus, making the on hand and available quantities match. I don't think I've got that kind of extra time!! Any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I didn't think it was even possible for two completely disparate files to be merged like that. It shouldn't be able to do that >_> If they had the same name, it might allow it. And no, this is a database program, so I'm afraid there is no Undo -- you would have to Restore a backup from before the error was made.

You can force POS to reflect accurate on-hand quantities by doing a Physical Inventory -- you must do these one store at a time, but it can all be done from the Headquarters store at WS 1.
