Help!Downloading bank transactions opens wrong version of QB

Postby encbarb on Mon Jun 30, 2008 3:54 pm

I have been using QB2005 Premier and have recently installed QB2008. I just downloaded banking transactions (WAMU) into my open 2005 file, but the file saved as a .qbo instead of a qbw file and will open only in QB2008. I have tried changing the extension and browsing for the 2005 version of QB (because the 2008 version wants to take over) but this has not been successful.

Coincidentally (or not) I did just allow an update for 2008 to be installed and maybe that corrupted the situation. Can someone offer a solution please? Perhaps this is in a setting somewhere?

A QBO file is a set of banking transactions which can be imported into your file; a QBW file is an actual company data file.

If you have opened your data in the 2008 edition, that particular company file will no longer function in any version prior to 2008.
