Allday Consulting's Peachtree and QuickBooks Support Boards

Hopefully someone can help!
I'm trying to help a friend who is having a problem with one of her computers at her business; windows xp home networked environment. I'm an IT Support Tech so I have done all of the usually windows troubleshooting, plus added more RAM. The computer runs great except when using Quickbooks pro 2006. It opens fine but when you change anything it will beep and then hang for 10 to 15 minutes before you can do something else. If you press ctrl+alt+delete it will release control. If you check whatever you were updating, it does update. She has two more computers, one has all of the files, and neither one is experiencing this hang time.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Based on what you've said, I can only offer some general ideas:

- Wireless network? If so, hardwire it.

- Norton or McAfee installed? Dump it. Both are notorious for interfering with QB/PT

- Is Windows being allowed to "sleep" the NIC "to save power"? (check in hardware manager)
