Quickbooks - COGS Sandwich

Postby nsinger123 on Wed Sep 23, 2009 8:59 pm

How do you assign cost per unit (per sandwich) in quickbooks? Lets say a sandwich is one tomato (25cents), one piece of lettuce (10cents), 3 pieces of turkey ($1), mayo (5cents). So you enter the cost per unit for the ingredients, but then how do you create a "product" which is the sandwich and allocate it a cost based on the ingredients' cost per unit?

Thank you!

An Assembly or Group item would work for this, but note that:

for Assemblies, each sandwich Assembly needs to be "built" before being sold

For Groups, each individual item would appear on the receipt

Neither QuickBooks nor Quickbooks Point of Sale were designed to handle a Restaurant situation (where every order is a bit different) -- your best bet would be to look for solutions or add-ons at http://marketplace.intuit.com
