I have a computer which crashed and they had the backup on the hard drive...not smart.
I am going to try a file recovery but don't know which folders to recover. Which files and folders do I need in order to get their data back into the program.
peachtree 2009.
Thank you

Assuming you're using the default install path:
c:\program files\sage software\peachtree\company\ is where the data is located. "Company" contains subfolders with the data. Any folder containing a file called company.dat is a data folder. Most of these will have seemingly nonsense names. Note that the ENTIRE subfolder is the company dataset, not just that one file. If you have any .PTB files (which are stored in their corresponding data folder by default), you can restore one of those instead of copying the folder.
Data folders will normally be exactly 8 letters long, and generally use their naming convention of AAABBBCCX, where AAA is the first 3 letters in your company name, BBB is the first 3 letters of the second word in the name, CC is the first 2 letters of the third word, and X is an auto-incremented letter (a~z) used to differentiate among multiple versions of the same file.
For example, a file for Allday Consulting Group, LLC would be something like "allcongra"
You can ignore the following folders completely:
BCS
Anything with ! or !_ in the name
Reports
Forms
most folders whose names actually look like English words
